I'm pretty sure it was part of archaeological survey or rebuild of the site. It is still one of oddest and intriging things i've seen. I should have taken more pictures, but those were the day before digital cameras came my way and i still believed i wouldn't forget anything.
Back in the days when I thought I would never forget anything I wrote everything down. Now that I can't even remember to grab my lunch on the way out the door in the morning I write nothing.
You might be interested to know that according to the Washpost, a black bear was hit by a car on Pleasant Valley Rd in Chantilly last week. The 80 lb bear died in the incident.
